Hint: Carbon dioxide is the most prevalent greenhouse gas in our atmosphere. Since the industrial revolution, its levels have seen a significant and concerning increase. This rise is primarily due to human activities that contribute to the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Complete answer: The Earth’s atmosphere is a blend of gases, with nitrogen being the most abundant, making up about 78% of the total atmospheric gases. Nitrogen exists in its diatomic form, N₂. Following nitrogen, oxygen is the next most abundant gas, essential for respiration in living organisms and primarily produced through plant photosynthesis. A significant rise in atmospheric carbon dioxide leads to the greenhouse effect, where gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and chlorofluorocarbons trap heat, causing global temperatures to rise. Among these, carbon dioxide is the primary contributor to this warming process.

Note: It is anticipated that in the near future, global warming will impact weather patterns, climate, and sea levels. As global warming progresses, average global temperatures rise, leading to the melting of glaciers in Antarctica. This glacier melt results in a slow but steady increase in sea levels.
