Chapter 1 – Redox Reactions

Chapter 8 – Redox Reactions explains chemical reactions involving oxidation and reduction. Oxidation refers to the loss of electrons or increase in oxidation number, while reduction refers to the gain of electrons or decrease in oxidation number. These reactions are important in processes like corrosion, respiration, and combustion.

The chapter introduces the concept of oxidation number, rules for assigning oxidation states, and methods for balancing redox reactions such as the oxidation number method and the half-reaction method. Understanding redox reactions is essential for electrochemistry and is highly important for CBSE board exams as well as NEET and JEE preparation.
